About me

Hi, I'm Randy.

I'm from Zwolle, where I live with my girlfriend, Rosanne, and our two kids. Zwolle has always been home to me, and though life has taken me to different cities, I'm happy to be back here, making new memories. There’s something special about having roots here, and it’s been great to return, especially now with our kids.

My Story

I grew up in Zwolle and have always loved the sense of community here. My career began in The Hague as a security officer, which was challenging but gave me a lot of practical life experience. In 2008, my dad suggested I work with him at Tablin, where he was also my manager. Working together was a unique experience that taught me a lot, both professionally and personally. Through Tablin, I was eventually dispatched to Ziggo, and in 2012, I joined Ziggo as a full-time employee in a new role within the NOC (Network Operations Center), a 24/7 environment that brought its own challenges and growth opportunities.

After Ziggo merged with UPC, my work shifted to Amsterdam, so Rosanne and I relocated to Utrecht to make the commute easier. During this time, our first son, Mason Jay, was born, and Utrecht became a new chapter filled with exploring the city as a young family.

Later, Vodafone and Ziggo merged, and then COVID changed everything. Remote work became the norm, and it was the perfect chance to return to Zwolle to be closer to family and friends. Back in Zwolle, our youngest son, James Novi, was born, and it’s felt right to be back in the city I’ve always called home.

Things I Enjoy

  • Cooking & BBQ Adventures: Cooking is something I genuinely enjoy, especially when it comes to BBQ. I’m always looking to improve my skills, especially with low 'n' slow sessions on my kamado (The Bastard). There’s just something about creating great flavors over a long cook that makes it worthwhile.
  • Tech & Home Automation: I’ve always had a passion for tech, especially when it comes to home automation. From setting up lighting systems to fine-tuning security features, I enjoy finding new ways to make life at home a little smarter and more connected.
  • Movies & Series: I’m a big fan of Sci-Fi, Comedy, and Drama. I especially enjoy movies with epic storytelling, like Lord of the Rings, The Last Samurai, and Braveheart. There’s nothing like getting drawn into a great story after a long day.
